Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American singer and actress whose dramatic versatility earned her praise across a range of genres ranging from period drama to action and thriller. Johansson was born in New York City, and was raised by an father, an architect, and mother who produced. Hunter was twins with the younger sibling. When she was a child she began to develop a passion for acting. She began making commercial auditions around the age of seven. Then she began her studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and afterwards attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan for further training in her craft. She made her debut as an actor in the film North (1994) aged nine. She was just eight when she starred alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson was later seen as a character in Just Cause (1995) but her first breakthrough came with Manny & Lo (1996) a coming-of-age film about siblings who are orphaned and run away. The film received the attention of critics for her character in the film as a teen who been injured in a horrific accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention as cynical teen exiled Rebecca In Ghost World (2001).
